Low cost options to make volunteering more accessible.



Service Civil International (SCI)

SCI offers a very affordable opportunity to participate in a short - term workcamp in locations all over the world. Most workcamps offered in the summer with a fee of only 80 USD for US workcamps and 195 USD for the international option. SCI provides food, a place to stay and an amazing experience. SCI works in over 50 countries.


Volunteers For Peace

VFP, founded in 1982, places international volunteers in 3,400 workcamps worldwide. The overarching goal of VFP is to build a more peaceful world through community service. The fee for a 2-3 week workcamp is generally 250 USD for most programs and is open to applicants 18 and up.

VFP works in over 100 countries.


Experiential Learning International (ELI)

ELI offers something for everyone. They partner with organizations in over fifteen countries and offer programs in a wide spectrum from turtle preservation in Ecuador to women's empowerment in India. Both long and short-term programs are available and start-date flexibility is given in some programs. Costs are generally under 1,000 USD. In addition, many programs ask only for a base fee and leave the desired length of stay open to volunteers.

ELI works in over fifteen countries in Africa, Central and South America, Asia and Europe.


Travel to Teach

This unique organization was founded by volunteers and works out of developing countries to help keep fees more moderate and maintain closer contact with volunteers and communities. Opportunities with Travel to Teach range from teaching English to conservation to community development. Programs range from 4 weeks to 6 months or more depending on personal preference, with costs ranging from approximately 850 to 2,000 USD.

Travel to Teach has programs in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Vietnam, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico.


Right to Play

Right To Play is an athlete-driven international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play as a tool for the development of children and youth in the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Volunteers typically have experience in a number of fields and must be available for a 12 month period. Right to Play also pays for many of the travel expenses and offers a stipend for international volunteers.

Right to Play has programs in 22 countries-mostly in Africa and also in the Middle East and Asia.


Fourth World Movement Volunteer Corps

Fourth World Movement (FWM) is an organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty. The Volunteer Corps program is a starts as an unpaid three-month internship and then progresses into a two-year commitment that offers a monthly stipend to the volunteer. First assignments are usually in North America to provide a wide range of training and then volunteers are sometimes placed at the FWM International Center in France.
