Mobile money is a way to make informal and growing markets in Haiti more efficient. It reminds me of Square or Paypal in the U.S. However, until everyone is connected to a mobile money network, it will not be as efficient. Do you know if Haitians can access the cash from their accounts, for instance, at an ATM? Also, would Voilà and Digicel charge for these services? How much?

On another note, I'm researching Kiva Zip which also works through mobile money transactions. It's an inexpensive way to reach people in rural areas who MFIs weren't able to reach before. I'll have an update soon! : )
