While recent criticisms around the failure of clean energy companies such as Solyndra abound, a new report from Clean Edge shows that globally, the industry is growing rapidly.
And it’s not just environmentalists talking. Fast Company points out that there’s a lot of money in clean energy, with 2011 being the greatest year ever for clean energy investments. And the market for investments in renewables is expected to expand even more rapidly this year.
But the economic benefits are not equally shared. The United States lags significantly behind China as the world’s leader for cleantech investments, as shown by this detailed inforgaphic from mission driven for-profit One Bock Off The Grid. And other countries including India, Germany and Italy are expanding their clean energy industries for larger slices of the renewables pie.
